Bonded ownership
Whether title has genuinely passed, and whether the warehouse, not only the seller, recognises the owner.
About Celtica
Based and managed in Cork, Ireland, with an international network of qualified buyers, distributors and commercial partners.
Across hundreds of transactions and mandates — principally maturing and bulk spirit and bottled stock, alongside warehouse and trade inventories, brands and intellectual property. Celtica acts for PLCs, international and domestic brand owners, distilleries, international distributors, wholesalers and alcohol dealers, and for lenders, receivers and restructuring advisers, worldwide.
Drinks assets are frequently held, valued and sold by people who are expert in everything except drinks. A receiver who has handled fifty insolvencies may never have seen a regauge certificate. A lender taking security over bonded stock may have no way to test what the schedule actually describes. A retailer commissioning its own whiskey may not know what the liquid, the dry goods and the lead times will really cost.
Celtica exists for that gap. It supports asset owners, distilleries, bottlers, distributors, lenders, receivers, insolvency practitioners, advisers and qualified trade buyers wherever specialist drinks-industry knowledge is required to establish what an asset is, what it is worth, and how it can be sold, sourced or brought to market.
The business is deliberately asset-light and relationship-led. Celtica does not own bottling plant, warehousing or freight capacity. It creates value by combining commercial judgement, documentary discipline, buyer access and coordination of appropriately appointed specialists.
All management, mandate control and transaction execution are centralised in Ireland. Fees are agreed at the outset and scaled to the mandate, typically combining a fixed fee for defined work with a success-related element aligned to realisation. Terms are set out clearly before instruction.
Why specialism matters
Each of these determines what a drinks asset is actually worth, and each is routinely missed when the asset is handled as ordinary stock.
Whether title has genuinely passed, and whether the warehouse, not only the seller, recognises the owner.
What the operator actually holds on record, and whether it reconciles with the contract, invoice and schedule.
Whether measurements are current or carried forward from a fill record, sometimes across a decade of evaporation.
Current strength, measured rather than assumed. Strength moves during maturation and the direction is not predictable.
The unit that survives comparison between casks, and the one most often quoted from stale inputs.
Cask type, fill history, wood activity and warehouse conditions. Two casks of the same age are not the same asset.
Whether the liquid can lawfully be sold as what the schedule calls it, under the current Technical File.
Whether the parcel can actually be bottled: volume, consistency, reduction, filtration and approvals.
Bottles, closures, labels and cartons carry lead times and minimum orders that can exceed the first run.
Destination labelling, registration and importer obligations decide whether stock can be sold, and where.
Trademarks, artwork rights, recipes and distribution agreements, often the most valuable and most perishable part.
Duty status and movement documentation. Mishandled, a suspended-duty asset becomes a liability.
How Celtica works
Leadership
Director of Trading & Advisory
Ireland
Aidan brings more than thirty years’ drinks-industry experience to Celtica. He leads the firm’s trading and advisory mandates across cask, bulk and bottled positions, including commercial assessment on a stated evidence base, sourcing and acquisition, structured disposal, private-label and route-to-market work, and transaction execution through to completion.
His role is to ensure that scope, evidence, limitations and transaction decisions are documented clearly, and that each mandate is capable of review by the instructing party and its professional advisers.
