Bottling & Delivery

From a parcel of liquid to delivered, saleable stock.

Bottling is a controlled manufacturing project. Celtica establishes whether a parcel is ready, specifies what it needs, appoints and coordinates the operators, and models what it will actually cost to land.

Bottling readiness

Before a bottling date is worth booking, the parcel has to be tested against the things that stop a run.

  • Confirmed liquid specification, and whether it can lawfully be labelled as intended
  • Current ABV, measured rather than carried forward
  • Current litres of pure alcohol, from which finished yield is derived
  • Batch consistency across the component casks or parcels
  • Reduction requirements, and the integration time reduction needs
  • Filtration requirements, and whether any non-chill-filtered claim is supportable
  • Bottle and closure compatibility with the chosen line
  • Label readiness, including destination-market mandatory text
  • Carton readiness and case configuration
  • Production approvals — who signs off the liquid, the artwork and the first pallet
  • Bottling schedule, worked backwards from the required delivery date

Bottling partner

A bottler is selected on capability, not on price per bottle. The assessment covers bonded capability where the stock must remain under duty suspension, minimum production run against available volume, line format and bottle compatibility, quality-control process, dry-goods receipt and storage, finished-goods storage, production documentation and traceability, and a written allocation of responsibility for each step.

Packaging

Every element must work together physically, visually and legally: bottle, closure, front and back labels, carton, case configuration, barcodes, market-specific mandatory wording, pallet configuration and any presentation requirement. Dry goods routinely carry higher minimum orders than the first bottling run, which ties up working capital and leaves surplus components — the commercial model has to account for it.

Delivery and export

Logistics are planned before production, not after. The route covers ex-works or delivered arrangements, bonded movement where duty remains suspended, duty status at each step, freight mode and booking, the importer of record, customs and excise documentation, insurance and where risk passes, destination delivery, and an unbroken chain of custody.

Commercial costing

A costing that stops at the bottling charge is not a costing. The model runs from liquid cost through bottling charge, dry goods, bonded storage, finished-goods storage, freight, duties and taxes, importer margin, distributor margin and retailer margin, to a landed cost that can be tested against the intended shelf price.

Working backwards from expected retail is the only reliable direction. A product can be excellent and still fail because the price architecture does not work.

Who instructs Celtica

Distilleries, brand owners, bottlers, asset owners holding bulk parcels, investors, lenders and international buyers commissioning finished stock.

Deliverables

  • Bottling-readiness checklist against the parcel as it actually stands
  • Production brief for the appointed bottler
  • Document schedule covering production, movement and export
  • Responsibility matrix allocating each step to a named party
  • Indicative commercial costing from liquid to landed cost
  • Risk and dependency list, sequenced against the delivery date

Scope and limitations

Celtica does not operate a bottling plant, a bonded warehouse, a freight company, a customs agency or a laboratory. Physical bottling, warehousing, testing and shipment are performed by appropriately appointed third-party operators. Celtica specifies, appoints, coordinates and verifies; it does not perform these operations itself, and it does not replace legal, tax, customs, excise or food-safety advisers.
